Make a mark, Inspire change and Leave a legacy

Evelyn Hernandez

This year I will be participating in my 12th annual YSC Tour De Pink East: 204 Miles in 3 days from Tampa, FL along beautiful Longboat Key to the sandy beaches of Venice Beach, FL April 13-15, 2018

Thank you to all our donors, this was the first time ever we passed the $100K goal in one weekend! We hosted and trained over 6 newly diagnosed Women survivors to participate in this life changing event. In the last 7 years, with your support and donations, As founder and team captain, I have become a committed advocate for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC).

The young survival coalition (YSC) is a non-profit organization that dedicates itself to building a network that provides immediate and constant hope, survival information, guidance and smiles to these young families. YSC host multiple disease empowerment conferences, national awareness campaigns and tool kits for physicians and newly diagnosed patients.

This year’s ride is inspired by the following brave women and their families:
• Veronica Mellado newly diagnosed several months ago and inspired to fight
• Aimee, a brave co-worker, diagnosed a year ago and now a survivor
• The memory of Kayla Falcon, my 25 year old cousin lost too young.. I ride for Yamilett – Kayla’s 7 year old daughter. To help her heal and understand as she grows up; how many people her mother touched. We ride for her future and families who need their mothers to survive;
• Jamie Pleva, diagnosed at 29 years old, at the same time she lost her sister to breast cancer at the age of 41. Today, Jamie is a 16 year survivor, married and mother of twins.

The journey these brave women face is daunting and at times may seem hopeless. Many struggle through multiple medications, repeated treatments of radiation and/or toxic chemotherapy, CT Scans, MRI’s, serious side effects, secondary complications such as cardiac & liver toxicity in order to fight. Those that beat the cancer remain at a very high risk of it coming back and unexpectedly striking their lives once more.

I share this information with you, so you can appreciate how incredibly important it is to uplift these families with fellowship, strength, encouragement and smiles. Your donation helps an incredible cause and encourages me to take on this strenuous challenge which pales as no sacrifice compared to the journey these women walk.

My goal this year is help our team surpass $100K. Please make your tax deductible donation by clicking on the link below. I hope I can count on you to help us reach our fundraising goal!

“Team Why We Ride” is not a professional cycling team. It is comprised of regular people like you that have come together for 1 purpose…To help more women survive. Your 100% deductible donation makes you part of our team and our purpose. Through our grass roots efforts we raise awareness in our communities for early diagnosis and more aggressive treatment plans.

Please share with any women diagnosed with breast cancer the youngsurvival.org webpage. See the photos in the Gallery below.
Thank you for your support! If you want to join our team, reach out to me.
